Opportunity House
Opportunity House is a temporary shelter for men and women, who have challenges with serious behavioral health, and who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness. Located in a large historic Santa Rosa home with a yard, Opportunity House provides 13 beds for Sonoma County Behavioral Health Services clients, and serves as a springboard to transitional and permanent housing.
Dedicated program staff offer individualized support that includes an indvidualized plan, case management, and group meetings. Opportunity House’s case management services assist with each resident’s individual needs for medical and dental care, problem solving, conflict resolution, symptom management (including the value of a clean and sober lifestyle), goal setting, access to community activities and services, dual diagnosis services, and crisis intervention. All meals and basic needs are provided, and staff actively support and encourage involvement in AA, 12 Step groups, Seeking Safety, NA, and/or dual recovery support groups.
The length of stay is up to 60 days, with the possibility of an extension after an assessment of compliance, circumstances, and needs.
Potential residents must be:
- 18 years and older
- A client of Sonoma County Behavioral Health
- Referrals are made by the SCBH case manager to the county Linkage meeting
